Well Flamers it was a few years ago that we questioned the large cash donation that Hinckley Council gave to Hinckley United. Much water under the bridge since then. More recent events have seen the Chairman and Mr Mayne resigning from the board and the current Directors have taken the view that the club should only spend what it earns...Novel idea in the football world we think! Having paid off large amounts of debt the problems mount as more and more creditors come out of the woodwork and the ex- Chairman claims money owed on rent. Net result is a depleted team full of youngsters....16 games without a win ....an embargo on signing new players and finally today the team were unable to play their fixture as they only had eight fit players. It is messy. Very messy. There is much hard work going on behind the scenes but there seems a mountain to climb. I hope Hinckley United can come through this as they have a wonderful facility with dozens of Childrens teams using it.

I do hope that the Numpties in Argents Mead don't consider bailing out this crock of pooh, they have had £100k and that should have been a loan NOT a gift...

You are a member of the local Tories, Carvanian - at least have the grace to say so.
I was willing to put in a lot of cash, but I was with your previous posts - it's very messy, and nothing short of the resignation of the entire board would persuade me to invest at the moment.

Carvo - I just saw that the EGM has been cancelled. Bad to worse.
Any idea why?

Adi- Just to put the record straight before we renew our banter I am not a member of the National or Local Conservative Party at this present time. As you know i have been a supporter and probably will be a supporter again but right now work has dominated my time. Not sure how i feel at the moment politically as my child benefit disappears and my neighbours who both earn £45K keep hold of theirs on a joint income of over £90K - It's just wrong!

Regarding the current situation at Hinckley United i suspect that the current Directors have now got the club running at a level where income in equals income out. I am not prepared to comment on the previous regime. Perhaps you have better contacts than i ?

I have no contacts down there, Rob Mayne/KD resigned and that's all I know apart from what I can see on the forum - doesn't inspire confidence! Hope your contacts are right, in terms of ongoing cashflow - although two cancelled fixtures can't have helped.
Being single and childless, my knowledge of child benefit is limited to knowing that it exists, so can't comment there!

Adi-Child benefit is given by HMRC to parents.£20.30 per week is paid for the first child and £13.40 per week is paid for each additional child. The same amount is currently paid without reference to earnings or savings. The system was first implemented in August 1946 .
In October 2010, the Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition government announced that Child Benefit would be withdrawn from households containing a higher-rate taxpayer from January 2013.
I fully understand the reason why higher earners should sacrifice child benefit. No problem with that.
My problem is the fact that if you have a household where one parent earns £70K and the other earns nothing you lose all your child benefit from Janary.
On the other hand if both parents earn £45K each you keep it. Surely the threshold should have been done on the HOUSEHOLDS income?
Have a word with Cleggy next time you see him!!

Thank you Carvo - I have actually just copied and pasted that for my future reference. It looks like I probably wouldn't qualify for it anyway, in the extremely unlikely event I have kids.
Is it effected by other benefits or tax allowances claimed?
On the face of it though, does seem a bit of a blunt instrument, I would have thought combined household income would be taken into account.

My friend who is a solicitor as is his wife all they do is pay all the child benefit into a pension fund for them. The sooner that people take responsibility for their own action and not depend or ask the State (Taxpayers) to cough up the better. The Welfare / social service bill is out fo control, we all know that, it has to end or be cut back..

Back to the subject i am encouraged to hear rumours that the new board might be close to a solution that would certainly secure the clubs future and sort out the short term issues. Good luck to them over the next few weeks. We might see Adi investing yet!
